Prairie City Photographer Named Bronze Medalist at International Photographic Competition
Katherine McClure of Katherine McClure Photography was honored by peers and jurors for high-quality photography.
Prairie City, IA – Katherine McClure, M.Photog., CPP of Katherine McClure Photography in Prairie City, IA was named a Bronze Medalist during Professional Photographers of America's 2019 International Photographic Competition. McClure’s work was on display at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, January 19-21, 2020. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.
A panel of 36 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from over 5,200 total submitted entries at PPA headquarters in Atlanta. This is the most prestigious competition of its kind, where images are judged based on a standard of artistic excellence, not against each other.
McClure’s case of images featured many local faces! “Never Wore the Dress” featured Carol Diekema of Monroe, IA. “Tan Your Hide” featured Clay Simmons of Sunny C Customs: Leatherwork & Metalwork of Prairie City, IA. “The Last Guests” featured Lorien, Leighton, Graiden and Tiernan McClure of Prairie City, IA. “Winded” featured Philip Chandler at the Holtkamp organ in the Frank Moody Music Building at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL.
The Bronze Medal is awarded to artists who have had all four images accepted into the PPA General Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions and other photography events. McClure was named a Bronze Medalist by earning a merit—a mark of quality and honor—for each of her four images included in her entry case to the International Photographic Competition.
“The Last Guests” received an additional honor at the 2019 NorthCentral District competition, and was awarded the Fuji Masterpiece Award in the Portrait Category, the highest honor given for PPA print competitions by Fujifilm.
