I’ve been a portrait artist for 31 years.
I’m counting since the first time I developed my own film in middle school because it was already clear that I had a natural gift. A talent. Some images I created way back then would still be considered ‘good’ today - but I didn’t always know how I had created them.
It was clear I was a portrait artist, but I didn’t really have command of my tools, or even know which tools I needed.
Fast forward 31 years, and I have quite a tool belt! But we don’t talk about them very often. Usually, people are just looking at their images and saying
‘I’ve never liked myself in pictures before!’
At this point, I’ve heard this line so often I think we should talk about the tools. They are why I can say ‘You are a Work of Art’ AND somehow let you see what I see - every time we work together.
Tool #1 - Lighting - I am a bit of gear hoarder… and I love to use all the equipment all the time - but it is because I have learned so much about how light tells a story! Our lighting flatters every body and can even coordinate with home decor so your portraits are truly custom designed for your home!
Tool #2 - Posing - I have taken hundreds of hours of continuing education to learn how to help normal people with normal bodies look confident and relaxed in front of the camera. Everyone deserves to love themselves in their portraits!
Tool #3 - Moment Blending - Worried not everyone will cooperate during your session? Our signature ‘moment blending’ allows us to seamlessly take the best capture of each subject and blend them together into a single image.
Tool #4 - Artwork - This is where we take your image and elevate it to art pieces that deserve to be proudly displayed in your home. Both our photographs and paintings receive unparalleled attention to detail before delivery! You already know we always start with professional hair and makeup, but behind the scenes, we work a special blend of magic that looks like you, just on your most refreshed day ever!
If you’ve never liked pictures of yourself before, come experience our studio!
Let us show you how it feels to love yourself in portraits.
Because you are a work of art,
Kat
