"I am the party!" I replied. And the bouncer let us all in. #truestory
But let me back up a bit.
I have a baby sister. And I still call her baby because she is so much younger – 15 years. (Same mom. Same dad. Because everyone asks ;-)
And our birthdays are only 10 minutes apart. Well, 15 years and 10 minutes.
I may have told my mother to hurry, when she was in labor, because I didn't want to share my birthday. (It is a miracle she let me live after saying such a thing!)
But later, I regretted what I said! Not only because I am now a mother who has been in labor... but because I do kinda wish we shared the birthday.
Because, #vegas
With our almost matching birthdays, we had a great idea for her 21st /my 36th. (This is a *few* years ago.) We would go to Las Vegas to dance! My husband, our brother, and his now-wife came, too. Just two nights so we carefully chose our activities. The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil was top of the list!
And then I introduced my husband to a brand new word: #dayclub
It is like a nightclub with djs, music, and dancing. But it opens at 10 am (for those of us out of the habit of staying up late) and the whole thing is poolside!
It also has *significant* cover charges to get in.
But it was our birthday splurge, and we came ready to pay to get in. Bathing suits with matching high heels #vegasstyle
But when we got to the rope, and the bouncer said “What party are you with?” I looked him straight in the face and said “I am the party!”
He smiled, and let us all in. Party of 5. Got in for free. (Probably for the last time in my life but super fun!)
Now, you may ask what this story has to do with my very elegant and refined portrait business. Sometimes, I just think things should come together. I may not be dancing poolside on the regular, but I absolutely love my small town of Prairie City. And recently, my mind was blown with edible glitter.
So I am having a party. And you are invited! Just two hours on Small Business Saturday morning, with a mimosa bar and lots of edible glitter.
Because part of what makes me who I am is that I LOVE to celebrate. I celebrate new life when families bring in little ones. I celebrate big changes when high school seniors come in for portraits. I celebrate accomplishments when business owners commission special pieces to showcase their achievements. I celebrate love stories when couples create their anniversary portraits with me. I celebrate creativity with every competition piece created in my studio.
I celebrate, because there are so many reasons to!
This season, come celebrate with me! (But Iowa style – not like Vegas ;-)
with love,
Kat
