Local Photographer's Paintings Go to International Exhibition
Katherine McClure of Katherine McClure Photography was honored by jurors for exceptional painted portraits created from her photographs.
Prairie City, IA – Katherine McClure, M.Photog., CPP of Katherine McClure Photography in Prairie City, IA has recently had three painted portraits accepted into the General Collection of Professional Photographers of America's 2020 International Photographic Competition.
McClure’s work will be on display at the upcoming Imaging USA, held virtually January 17-19, 2021, in the International Photographic Exhibition. Top photographic works from the competition and traveling and special invitational displays constitute one of the world's largest annual exhibits of professional photography gathered simultaneously in one place.
A panel of 36 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top images from over 5,000 total submitted entries at PPA headquarters in Atlanta. This is the most prestigious competition of its kind, where images are judged based on a standard of artistic excellence, not against each other.
McClure had three painted portraits accepted this year. “Widow’s Joy”, an extended family portrait of nineteen members, featured the Bassman family of West Des Moines. “Contemplating Her Choice”, a high school senior portrait, featured Amelia Brown of Prairie City and was created at the Salisbury House and Gardens, Des Moines, Iowa. “Blew It”, a comical portrait, featured Rev. Matthew McClure of Prairie City.
